Johannes Ehemann (*1996 in Schwabach) lives and works in Germany. After graduating from the Berlin School and Competitive Sports Centre, he began to dedicate himself intensively to art at an early age. Since the age of 18, he has been developing an independent artistic practice that moves between painting and sculpture and sees paper as a central material. Based on layering, superimposition and intervention, he creates works that transform fragments of everyday life, photographic observations and influences of pop culture into complex pictorial spaces.

Ehemann's work is characterised by his engagement with perception, identity and change. Paper functions not only as a support for images, but as a material that makes time, fragility and transformation visible. His works move between abstraction and figuration, developing a visual language that captures the fleetingness of the present moment without fixing it. His proximity to photography and a keen sense of detail characterise his visual approach.

His works have been shown in numerous national and international exhibitions, including The Other Art Fair in Los Angeles, London and New York, the Discovery Art Fair in Frankfurt and Cologne, and in exhibitions in Berlin, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dallas and Aarhus. In addition to several solo exhibitions, his exhibition calendar includes regular presentations in galleries and at art fairs in Germany and abroad. Ehemann's work combines material sensitivity with an open reflection on the present, opening up spaces for a concentrated engagement with the traces of individual and social experience.

Q&A with the artists:

The exhibition ARTIFICIAL? Traces of the Present brings together works that question our perception. Reality appears not as a given, but as something that is constantly being appropriated. ARTIFICIAL? questions whether what we see and experience is not always already made, constructed, and mediated.
