Collection: Sebastian Maas
Sebastian Maas, born in Aachen in 1984 and now living in Berlin, is part of the current exhibition at Gallery KOKO and is considered one of those artists who mediate between science and the visual arts with extraordinary sensitivity. His works are characterized by a deep understanding of structure, memory, and identity – a tension that is also reflected in his academic career: After studying biology and neuroscience, Maas turned to painting and became a master student of Prof. Karin Kneffel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
His work oscillates between figurative narrative and atmospheric abstraction—often characterized by psychological depth and a keen sense for the unspoken. Maas understands how to condense composition, light, and color into a personal, often poetic visual language that goes far beyond the purely visual.
